Portland Sports Network Earns Four Northwest Emmy Award Nominations

May 18, 2018

The Portland Sports Network (PSN), University of Portland’s in-house athletics video team, earned four Northwest Emmy Award Nominations, as announced by the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Students Ian Hannah ’18 and Cyrus Maunakea ’19 received two nominations each in the 2018 College Awards section.

Hannah’s nominations include his feature “University of Portland’s Christie Hall Rallies Behind Tahirou Diabate,” which showcases strong community support for the freshman men’s basketball player from his dorm, Christie Hall. Hannah also earned a nomination for his highlight video looking back at the best sports moments of the 2016-17 season, “University of Portland All Sports Highlights 2016-2017.”

Maunakea earned nominations in the “News: General Assignment – Light” category. A feature highlighting UP’s outdoor recreation program, “University of Portland Outdoor Pursuits Program,” explores offerings the University of Portland provides for its student body to experience the Pacific Northwest. Maunakea’s second nomination came with an in-depth feature on senior volleyball standout Hannah Troutman, “UP Volleyball Senior Hannah Troutman Career Retrospective.” Troutman played a vital role in the rise of the Portland volleyball program after transferring from Oregon State.

Category winners will be announced at the 2018 Northwest Regional Emmy Awards event scheduled for Saturday, June 9, at Fremont Studios in Seattle, Washington. For more information contact athletics at x7117 0r go to www.portlandpilots.com.
